BAS on an Epic Adventure in Africa!  kibo-main-peak-of-kilimanjaro

BAS Kilimanjaro Presenation, Monday, February 8th

You are invited to join in a celebration and report of our first ever Bayside Adventure Sports International Epic Adventure!  On January 7th a team of 12 of us departed Sacramento and flew to Tanzania for the opportunity to climb 19,340’ Mt Kilimanjaro.  It is the highest mountain in Africa and considered the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, rising 15,100’ from base to summit.  It took us five days to go up, two days to go down – and we experienced some very challenging obstacles along they way, including uncharacteristic wet and cold weather, altitude sickness, and a much more difficult trail than any of us expected.  We have a wonderful 30 minute video to show of the hike and the team will answer questions about the adventure.  We will also show video footage of our three days of Safari experiences and two days of exposure to the Courage House and Courage Center ministries in Tanzania – reaching out to orphan girls and others caught up in the sex traffic industry of Africa.  This 16 day experience bonded and impacted every one of us on the team.  Please invite friends and family and join us at 7pm in room B121 at Bayside Church on Monday Night, February 8th. Cookies and drinks will be served.

A team of 12 BAS members will Summit Kilimanjaro – the ‘rooftop of Africa‘ at 19,340 feet.  They will mingle also with exotic wild animals on a Serengeti safari and serve the local people – all in one adventure-packed 17 day trip!  Meet them and follow their trip here and on Facebook!  Follow their itinerary:  Bayside Adventure Itinerary and MACHAME Itinerary.

January 7 -23, 2010

Upon our arrival in Africa we will be met by our hosts and taken to Simon Mtuy’s organic family farm where we will have time to wander around the 15 acres, visit a waterfall and prepare for the upcoming climb. We will stay in quaint cottages and be treated to home-cooked meals prepared from produce grown on the farm.
