March 2010 News

Our hiking leader Dave Dixon and Amy Mountjoy of rock climbing are in the process of setting up rock climbing skills training for those hikes that require ropes to summit a route. They are working with Granite Arch to make this happen so when details are finalized, I will let you know.

Amy Mountjoy is continuing to lead indoor climbs usually every third Friday at the two indoor gyms in town.  She was communicating by Facebook, and will continue to do so, and I will post her climbs through this site as well.

Also, I will be bouldering at The Quarry on Taylor Road on either Saturday or Sunday afternoons once the weather changes. The time change coming up will help extend climbing hours.

One last note. I will be leading small groups to the Consumnes River Gorge for Top Rope climbing this Spring. The Gorge has many grades of routes so all levels will be challenged.

Stay tuned for more news.

Until then, I’ll be in the mountains on my snowboard.

Be Great,

Mt. Shasta Trip – 2004 Shasta 2004 climb photo gallery

A dozen Baysiders hit the top of Mt. Shasta on Friday July 16th. Led by Ty Hoblitt and joined by BAS leader Greg Weismann, all but one of the group reached the summit of 14,162 foot Mt. Shasta – including Greg’s 11 year old daughter Krista!  This is an annual event so start psyching yourself up for this epic adventure next year. Nothing makes you feel closer to God than being filled with the glory of His creation on top of a peak like Shasta!
